Hi sweetie pies...sorry haven't written in ages...Cabaret has officially taken over my life and all my energy and now that school is starting on Monday, i'm holding on tight coz its also our performance week!!! AAarrrghh...gotta stock up on redbull and loads of coffee.. (met the new batch of musical theatre students too - and 2 words popped into my head: FRESH MEAT!! arhahahaha....)

Rehearsals have gone on for almost 2 months and what a journey its been! we've had to be at rehearsals on average 6 days a week from 1pm to 10pm...choreo, blocking, nightmare scene transitions, songs, ...then costume changes, hair (wig) changes...but we all pulled through because everyone is so dedicated to keeping the show together and making it as smooth sailing as possible, we look out for each other and so the group dynamic is great!

Yesterday i helped a friend, RJ,  (celebrity Philipino singer-actor who i am singing with in Cabaret! wah lau i'm still thanking my lucky stars!! haha) film his audition for the Miss Saigon touring company which will start rehearsals next year in Feb. Originally i was just supposed to be Kim's voice offstage but darling Jay (my musical theatre classmate and veteran Philipino actor) suggested that i audition too! Long story short, we filmed the whole audition in 3 hours - Jay our director and cameraman, Wen Foo ( i hope i spelt that right!) on piano, and me and RJ playing Kim and Thuy in "Thuy's Death" and "Thuy's Intervention"..later i did a solo - "I'd Give My Life For You" which i couldn't have done without Jay's help and encouragement..we only rehearsed it twice and filmed it once! Looking back, i realise how much i've grown as a performer that i could give it my all without being self-conscious though it took me a while to warm-up into the character.

Anyway i annoyed a few people by being a paparazzi today during our tech run at the esplanade theatre - the pics turned out great tho! haha

Yesterday was the first day of rehearsals. I had come back on friday to compose and prepare myself for the gruelling rehearsals ahead (as well as get away from the folks after a month of being unofficially house-arrested! haha). I was so very anxious somehow about beginning the process - in the final hours before rehearsals at 3, i descended into a social phobe!

But my fears dissipated as the day went quite smoothly. We learnt 2 songs - "It Couldn't Please Me More" (us chorus did the 'ahhhs'!) and went all german on "Mein Herr".

There was a distinct La Salle-ian presence - not only was our practice venue the la salle campus but my singing teacher Amanda is the musical's vocal coach. Jay from my year auditioned late and got in! He's playing Bobby. Rosie, Bec and Danielle (my juniors) are also in the Kit Kat Klub! So it feels like going to school minus the long hours (for now!) and familiar faces.

I've just been embarassing myself in rehearsals!!! i have this huge grin plastered on my face, eyes wide and interested, not to mention the speaking in excess when spoken to my some our more famous cast members! Aaargh! for example, they ask, "Lets go around and give our names ok?" so they start with me, and in my uncontrollable eager-beaver mode, i rattle off "Hi, i'm Stephanie, and i'm playing Texas in the kit kat..." and then i get cut off because all they really wanted to know was just my name and i'm deflated feeling 2 inches tall...oh god help...will i never be poised and elegant?? Its silly i know, but i wonder if anyone else feels the same? haha

to say the least its gonna get interesting... and i'm trying to get lotsa people to come watch my first musical performance in singapore!!! www.toyfactorycabaret.com.sg (that's the official site with info..really impressive!)
